talk timing , bad luck, 3/4 way through install of mountain lion on external drive, died. install crashed, the drive not mount mbp way of firewire, tried disconnecting there, (powering down of course) , connecting desktop through esata.
nothing mount, external drive 1 of cloned image of internal drive have partitioned hold lightroom library. lightroom library nas don't want images stored in on single drive.
less concerned failed ml install rebuilding library nas backup. thankfully after praying , leaving powered down or while, turned on , mounted.
i'm in process of refreshing lightroom backup
moral of story - make sure don't rely on single method , make sure current. sweating bullets because backed version bit old , while had images backed elsewhere, have taken work rebuild library.
talk lately (mostly me) of aperture , lightroom has me thinking aperture because think easier manage separate aperture libraries doing in lightroom.
i'm glad hear made out ok.
first priority backup routine use. besides using nice synology nas, make 3 copies. 1 resides off site, other 2 remain @ home in case 1 fails. it's worth investment in media.
