Curious in using a MacBook Air as a digital sound recorder (will it get too hot?)

hello.

i'm budding sound designer/recorder , have been looking @ high quality digital sound recording devices. thing is, decent one, have spend lot of money.

have apogee duet ii high quality , sounds fantastic when recording microphones. have old macbook pro (with normal disk harddrive) , thinking, if got macbook air ssd (so there no moving parts).

way, can have macbook air , apogee duet in audio bag , use record microphones. seems make more sense me buying device decent mic preamps.

anyhow, question is, possible run macbook air when lid closed? laptop hot if it's running closed lid inside bag? i've heard computer's heat released keyboard lid needs open. correct?

information or experience sort of thing greatly!
thanks, james

yes. apple portables: how use computer in closed clamshell (display closed) mode external display
yes, overheat. shouldn't run inside bag. having lid closed fine, having in bag block air vents.
there no air intake or exhaust through keyboard on mac notebook, , there never has been. both intake , exhaust through vents in rear near hinge, allows venting lid open or closed (for operating in clamshell mode). there solid panel under keyboard, preventing meaningful airflow.
