hi all,
past few weeks i've been having strange problem mbp , though i've tried knew , solutions available on net, still can't seem fix it. @ moment i'm 1 step before sending mbp apple since it's saturday , i'll have wait till monday, thought i'd give 1 more try , see if there haven't done already. here go…
started when 10.7.3 came out. installed update through software update , when restarted computer got slashed circle sign. after reading lot of forum posts , various articles on apple's support pages tried:
1. resetting pram / nvram
2. repairing permissions
3. repairing disk through disk utility
4. running disk warrior
nothing seemed work. went through , reinstalled lion (without erasing previous installation). seemed fix problem , mbp functioning ok 2-3 days. after that, update came out, time itunes. after installing got few error messages unfortunately can't remember, related few .kext files. after restarting slashed circle appeared again. @ point thought clean lion installation better installing lion on previous "damaged" installation. booted in recovery mode, downloaded lion , installed again.
seemed working fine , started installing rest of apps (ilife, iwork, photoshop etc). installed every update available , did plenty of restarts. after few days same problem appeared. guess hard drive problem , since ssd, ordered new hard drive hoping make mbp faster solving problem.
after installing ssd, went through clean lion install , proceed on installing applications use. time after each app installation, did restart make sure no app causing this. went great. mbp super fast , problem solved. after 2 days same thing again! far i've tried:
1. reformatted original hdd , installed lion without else (not single app) - works fine!
2. installed ssd on external usb casing see if can read/write disk. can access fine can't boot it.
3. reseted pram / nvram while ssd installed , booted fine once. on second boot problem , if reset pram again doesn't seem anything.
said before i'm ship mbp apple service. i'm concerned because whole problem seems software based rather hardware. @ moment have 2 hard drives:
a) original hdd came mbp formatted , haven't installed , appears working fine. i'm if install apps , start using mbp on daily routines, it'll end same problem.
b) new ssd has fresh lion installation , apps got stuck slash circle problem. can fixed lion reinstallation won't last long.
there else try? has ever seen similar problem or can understand more do? way system macbook pro 13" 2011 i7 2.7ghz - 8gb ram.
in advance , hope didn't bore wall of text trying thorough possible.
