Random shutdown, worth fixing?

i have 2nd gen. 32g touch. bought used (not smart). randomly shuts down , has reset. after many resets, non-apple factory installed apps don't work(original ones do). seems work fine if plugged in charge. if unplugged, shuts down after goes sleep , has reset. can't id problem clearly. have done complete reinstall through itunes.
suggestions?

could hardware issues..check headphone port , see if has pink indicator on ..could water damage or been dropped
