Upgrading my MacBook OS to Lion, Valuable advice from pros in need

my current macbook system:

mac os x version 10.5.8

processor: 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo

memory: 4 gb 1067 mhz ddr3

it's quite old unit... it's 1st macbook aluminium casing

it's been awhile i'm stuck os, wondering if possible me upgrade os lion.

can macbook cope it? slow down macbook consider it's age , mayb processor aint powerful enough support latest os lion.

advise kindly appreciated.
