Probably a stupid question

due blu-rays being tiny bit more expensive dvd , getting triple play means have few digital copies , blu-ray copies of few movies. have used handbreak rip many of dvds mac can stick them on ipad , when need them.

right in saying need blu-ray player watch/rip blu-ray discs mbp? external usb 1 enough?
