How to stop - Desktop from 2012-xx-xx?

hi,

running 10.7.2 on recent 2011 macbook air.

on desktop, archive of old desktop (presumably when time machine makes external backup).

find super annoying, want desktop stay same!

there way turn off?

p.s. called applecare, 90 days of phone service up, rather answer simple question, preferred use time explaining why couldn't answer question without me spending couple hundred bucks.
