just passing on information picked few days ago @ local apple store genius bar.
free available memory on ipad shutting down background apps still running. double tap on home button, show icons running in background. hold down 1 of them until start vibrating, tap on (-) sign on each 1 shut them down.
unaware of procedure, thought share here on forum. hope helps all.
