External keyboard not recognized on Powerbook

hi everyone,
i'm trying use microsoft natural ergonomic keyboard 4000 external keyboard. isn't being recognized @ regardless of usb port plug (either directly or through powered usb hub). i've uninstalled , reinstalled microsoft intellitype software.

have used keyboard on system. system has no problem apple external keyboard , else plugged of usb ports functions no problem. troubleshoot this?

i'm on a:
powerbook g4
os x 10.4.11

many can provide!

if plug system, (mac or pc) keyboard still work?
