Can the Late 2009 27" iMac handle 32GB of RAM?

i have read 2010 , later 27" imac models can support 32gb of ram new 8gb ddr3 so-dimms. imac models 11,2 / 11,3 / 12,1 / 12,2. (i'm assuming 12,1 , 12,2 also)

have late 2009 27" imac quad core i7-860 @ 2.8ghz. it's imac 11,1. wondering if has tried 32 gb of ram in model? (or 2x8gb or 20gb/24gb/28gb combinations)

have found many of things thought new 2010 models work late 2009 models. (such audio through mini-displayport , handling of sdxc sd cards work on late 2009 imac well, possibly through firmware update since 2010?)

knowledge of memory controllers or experience specifically, comments appreciated!

(also, cost of these 8gb so-dimms have come down lower 4gb so-dimms bought 2 years ago bring 16 gb. , use on 12gb of ram continuously everyday, hate when start use swap memory, hdd virtual memory. i'm aware how 32gb is, , use it! please, no comments about: why or how use/need 32gb of memory! :) )
