edit: has been solved. problem ram!
hi all,
tried looking issue on forums , google , got different suggestions.
bought imac knew did not boot (mine stolen while got new, well, new me, replacement on cheap friend).
friend thought dead motherboard when searched issue, looked motherboard or power supply (or both?). think power supply involved because when plugged in , tried turn on (who knows, friend pc, parent's imac, maybe couldn't figure out how turn on!), smelled cap gun type smell. old cap guns haven't played in years, had distinct smell - never forget it. electrical fire smell, don't think smell same , didn't smell electrical fire smell.
note, bought fix myself, because 1) love fixing things. , 2) because parts relatively inexpensive.
suggestions? there diagnostic led's there on imac g5? guys think?
in advance!

kind of late, here updates in case has similar problems.
never figured out "cap gun" smell, guess had accumulated dust not being turned on , when plugged in, it, idk, caught on fire lol?
unplugged upon turning on , smelling that. started take apart power supply (to thought culprit) , found lots of dust. cleaned out dust , realized "ram gate" not screwed in way. unscrewed , realized ram wasn't installed way (only 1 1gb ram chip in it). threw in second 1gb ram chip (and reinstalled first one). put , turned on. worked flawlessly (and has been day). latency when launching apps hey, it's older generation no complaints here!
