Song conversion on iPad?

quick question (& apologies if covered elsewhere, did search & found nothing, may've missed something):
can convert songs on ipad lower bitrate & if so, how?
if not, have re-import tunes in order convert?
i'm manually managing music it's not entire library. can make playlist of songs on ipad on computer remember want put back? or there better way entirely?
sorry, realize silly newbie question, i'd appreciate lil' can have more room on ipad.

the way know highlighting songs want convert in itunes library >advanced>create aac version , them import these songs ipad. should convert chosen songs 80 kpbs,and delete higher bitrate songs in ipad.
