Strange Image Resolution

we have image, college of mine telling me when placed in indesign came in tiny little image, took @ image. opens in photoshop or preview @ size "normal eye.

when @ image size in photoshop…

pixel dimensions 1000 x 726

document size .333 inches x .0242 inches

yet resolution @ 3000 dpi?

how image become this?

isn't first image have seen this.


curious if has information why this.

don't know how became way can go image size , change 300 (with resample image turned off). hunch went in change dpi , hit 3000 instead of 300.
