iPad UK 3G datablocks?

so i'm thinking of buying ipad 3g 3 model... dont think use 3g lot. i'm sure use sometimes. i'd 2x month travelling etc., 2x week in hospital..

however, im not fond on paying 15/month. there plan available can buy in blocks? e.g.buy 2gb never expires?

have couple of friends in uk, tether phones can ipad connected. option mini sim card internet access , put in ipad whenever need it.

don't think there actual way carrier provide service you're requesting since won't generate profit them. awesome users tough
