iMac G3 and Power Mac G4 can't find hard drive

situation:
wanted try out os 9. have 2 older macs (power mac g4 , imac g3) , both today running tiger. bought new hard drive (120gb, ide) , put in imac os 9 install disc. nothing happened, refused boot cd took new hard drive power mac g4, made slave, formatted , tried install os 9 directly second hard drive whilst still in tiger. worked charm , when rebooted had os 9 in it's glory.

problem this:
can't life of me make power mac g4 boot tiger original hard drive kept tiger intact no os 9 interference. computer not recognize hard drive @ all. it's same imac g3 now.

have tried upgrade os 9 9.2.2 , use startup disk - won't find other hard drive 1 os 9.

have tried boot bootable tiger disc (you know, wanted try , use disc utilities there , put os x hard drive startup disk) neither g4 nor g3 boot in cd, both show me gray screen maybe 20 seconds , either flashes questionmark or boots os 9.

have tried put hard drive tiger installed on can't find startup disk.

do show computers tiger hard drive exists? had lot of stuff on drive.



edit: have tried hold down option-key while booting screen can choose startup disk. there see nothing special. it's refresh icon , arrow button doesn't anything. noted before saw tiger design on screen, see old school style - it's os 9.

 

well, problem fixed self no need answer!

don't know why, tonight disc decided readable. have bought retail disc absolutely no dust or scratches on don't know why acting up, after... maybe 6 hours in all, of fruitless trying, g4 allowed me boot cd , voila. tiger-drive found.
