Older MacBook still decent to use in 2012?

i looking possibly macbook 2nd grade son, , thinking 1 of older pre-unibody 13" macbooks should fine (aside video games, bad).

guys still think these viable option? can had $300 used (mid , late 2007 models).

 

yes. laptop late 2006 model. limitation gpu gaming. can run least graphic intensive new games , games few years old. i've got couple steam games can run without worry. gaming bit better in winxp via bootcamp, still not great.

said 'too bad' though, feel free macbook works. it's more adequate browsing, word processing, videos, etc. have cs5.5 installed on mine , runs well, can't "intense" work on it. use pdf/doc/pic every , then.

things weary of condition of shell , battery health. also, went apple store yesterday issue having , told specific laptop "vintage" in 2 months. told there 0 apple support available in-store in 2 months, think that's specific model (2,1).
