Encoding Video with a PPC G5

hi,

i'm running dual 2 ghz ppc g5 2 gb of ram , 10.4.11 , trying re-encode number of video files .avi , .vob mp4/h.264.

on average, it's taking handbrake 14 hours encode single 2 hour video file. isquint faster @ 6 hours comparable file. these processing times insane , non-workable; have 500 movies encode or re-encode not counting ripping.

these normal times i'm trying on set-up? there do, short of buying new machine, speed things bit?

suggestions?

thanks,

k

i've used handbrake on mdd dual g4 1.42 ghz , takes forever. short of using quad g5, you'd better off using mac intel (my core 2 duo @ 2.4ghz compression in real time usually, high quality settings , no loss of resolution).
