16xx Errors...

so, friend handed on iphone 3gs after stopped working. no matter firmware try use, gives me errors within 16xx range.

first have tried use standard firmware (5.0.1), when do, have received of these @ different restore attempts:

1) error 1600
2) error 1602
2) stuck on "preparing iphone restore" (can stay hours)
3) error 2005

i've tried custom firmware, created 5.0.1 using sn0wbreeze. when use this, i've received of these @ different restore attempts:

1) stuck on "preparing iphone restore" (stays hours)
2) itunes pick-up , drop connection phone on , over
3) error 1601
4) error 1600
5) error 1602

, finally, i've tried do, fix this:

1) rebooted computer
2) rebooted iphone
3) used ireb pwned dfu mode
4) used tinyumbrella exit recovery
5) used tinyumbrella fix recovery
6) un-ticked "set hosts cydia on exit" in tinyumbrella
7) used both custom , stock ipsw's
8) switched usb ports (dozens of times)
, other things.

i've tried results in error. this, phone stays dead (blank) entire time, throughout different ways i've tried. being picked itunes, of-course, makes me think it's software related, maybe not.

if hardware related, whats broken causing this? i'm more happy replace part/s, have no idea need changing thing working.

if there variations of doing i've done working, means, please suggest.

if iphone jail broken before gave possible baseband used ipad bb. use redsn0w repair bb , try again
