ScreenShot on Lion (New Mac User)

i know how take screen shot hot keys. can locate on menu. can find on finder not @ top of page. also, screen shots being saved???????? if i'm not posting in correct place please forgive me , show me proceed. mitch

 

shift+command+3 gets full screen shot saved desktop , shift+command+4 gets cross hairs select part of screen screen capture (click , drag highlight section copied) saved desktop also.
