QuickTime Pro on Windows video editing. Borked.

ok, i'm confident windows version of quicktime rather terrible. , know technically mac apps forum, , haven't attempted same procedure on 1 of macs yet won't same result (can hope so).

isn't question on how fix issue either, i'm bit perplexed how shoddy qt on windows , makes me wonder if upgrading pro worth expense. please feel free tell me mac version wouldn't behave same way...

basically, i've got handbrake encoded video here, going cut tiny, 7 second long snippet out of , save snipped elsewhere. used selection sliders select said snippet. qt being qt, sliders jerk forward , backward many frames couldn't position them in right places. although i'm sure holding shift , using arrow keys used move highlighted slider 1 frame @ time, reason doesn't work video. or video i've tried on lately come think of it.

did make larger selection of snippet, copy it, open new player , paste that. quicktime crashes. how did around this? found if instead copy selection, rather open new player, use control+a select whole video, delete it, paste. same effect, without qt crashing.

ok, use sliders again, , can move sliders more accurate frame frame basis trim again actual snippet want use. use 'save as', choose 'self contained' , give new name , there. done... quicktime crashes again. has still created video file despite crashing.

when open new video file , play it, works perfectly. in quicktime. plays 7 seconds; there 7 seconds of video , 7 seconds of sound, , it's in sync.

when play in wmp however, there in fact 12 seconds of video , 7 seconds of sound. meaning it's out of sync , has 5 seconds of no sound, video @ end of file.

quicktime windows, sir, borked. /rant

try converting video format not use key frames before edit. dc or aic.
