Getting documents on ipad - why so difficult?

is there reason why icloud , dropbox's functions seem limited on ios devices?

dropbox, can view, not edit documents. so, have first open them appropriate iworks app, afterwards, save dropbox, have email myself, open in dropbox.

icloud, need first upload files icloud.com imac. there osx app opens folder me work from, dropbox?

same notability. can open pdfs dropbox (which take forever sync, , limited 2gb), not ibooks. think 64gb of storage in ipad, match made in heaven, no.

don't me wrong - apple products, of engineering decisions have me scratching head bewilderment. why deliberately hobble own products much?

or overlooking something?
