Unpacking a 2011 iMac from Amazon

i received 21.5" 2.7 ghz imac past thursday amazon. hooray! thought helpful prospective buyers see how unpacks. old news current owners. here goes.

shipping box not amazon. looks apple's own packaging.

there's sticker on box looks date of manufacturing. computer relatively fresh.

inside imac package. it's snug fit.

crack open imac package , greeted packed keyboard , mouse.

arrangement clean , neat. documentation, warranty info, , stickers on right. there's not in documents couldn't find better online. still, may want thumb through novelty of it.

underneath documentation neatly wrapped mouse , slip of paper showing quick overview of gestures can perform on surface of mouse.

take out styrofoam , can pull out computer. warned, hefty , felt huge! i'm glad didn't 27" display size model.

computer neatly wrapped around freshly diapered baby. peel in case need return computer.

screen covered protective plastic covering. after taking off plastic covering can see clean , shiny glass front. if don't glass fronts still beautiful behold.

here's side side view of imac next older ppc g5. thought interesting see overall height of computers same.

fits perfectly. again, i'm glad didn't 27" display. bigger screen awesome wouldn't fit work. 21.5" dandy.

read of reviews on amazon other 2011 models these imacs shipping snow leopard instead of lion. imac came lion.

had system check updates , install them. @ v10.7.3. know lot of people aren't hot lion. coming leopard having skipped snow leopard had no prejudice.

spent rest of evening downloading latest versions of ppc g5 programs firefox, vlc, neo office, etc. nice current. while did transferred itunes library through home sharing. had 2,258 files move. 13 of files movies. else music. took night.

after transferring itunes library connected ipad , iphone create sync. should have google'd because more complicated anticipated. itunes wants delete idevice when synced new computer first time. diddled around , got apps transferred having instructions online ahead of time have helped.

keyboard tray in desk has edge on keep traditional sized keyboards sliding off. imac's keyboard extremely thin , shallow ends "sinking" under edge. keyboard's feel adapt desk better fit. lack of numeric keypad huge hit me , wired keyboard pad. mouse takes getting used awesome! fingers tend hover , lay on mouse in must odd spots because induce unintended gestures.

overall, excited , pleased new imac! hope survives long ppc g5.
