Smart Cover not locking/unlocking New iPad

well first off, it's not "smart cover" apple case invellop uses identical technology (i.e magnets). on ios 5.1 , not see general setting in can turn ipad cover on/off. doesn't seem responding me closing cover or opening it. suggestions?
