How to back up sms messages?

i upgraded 3g 4s. wondering if there's way sms on 3g? want can jailbreak , unlock 3g can either use emergency phone or bring me when travel.

3g @ 4.2.1

don't want sync itunes since syncing 4s it.

yeah. phoneview. it's app mac, not phone. extracts messages phone , puts them in pdf in "bubble" conversation format time/date stamp each message. however, doesn't them onto phone.
