How to use an iphone 4 (AT&T) with a French carrier?

hi,

i'm studying in paris , i'll staying whole year. thing can't use iphone 4 there french carrier because locked at&t , don't want know unlocking.

there way make phone work here? much, not use nokia 3410 friend gave me whole year, drive me crazy!! can jb solve problem? need 100% sure wouldn't risk brickwall phone nothing.
