iTunes error 3194 please help!!

hi guys, i've been trying figure problem out last 12 hours , it's doing head in!
have iphone 4 on 4.3.3 (bought ebay , not sure if working!).
try complete reset (through phone) hangs @ progress bar.
try restore downloaded 4.3.3.ipsw (666mb) itunes fails signed @ server , throws out 3194 error.
i've had , play around host files trying various combinations:

i've done tiny umbrella unchecking thing.

i'm stuck!! please help!?
