Xerox Phaser 8860 MFP Scan to Computer impossible

hi there, hope not posting on wrong forum i'm @ loss here.

bought xerox phaser 8860 mfp our office. after countless hours trying network scan going, still @ starting line.

tried configure 2.16 intel core 2 duo imac running 10.7.2, 10.7.3. have ethernet network, hp procurve switch 1400-24 g, connected internet though zyxel p660hw-d1 router. access network through timecapsule connected ethernet imac , switch (the timecapsule creates wireless network guess that's beside point). phaser 8860 connected switch.

can scan printer folder , view , download scan web application of printer (available entering phaser 8860's ip in web browser). apparently way xerox allows create network folders through xerox scan utility (that's way have found, @ rate), , absolutely ignorant other ways of doing this.

of course, mentioned utility doesn't work. opens alright, none of scanned files stored in 8860 hard drive appear in of tabs (copy folder, scan email, etc.). apparently, file sharing smb option must activated (and is), , that's how ended in this thread - thought might problem.

funny thing tried windows 7 professional partition in mbp, installed drivers, , same xerox scan utility... no avail. same exact problem imac running mac os x 10.7.3. can access 8860, can see options under whatever extremely annoying controllers windows offers (sorry, i've been mac user since 6), apparently twain controller set , go... scan utility still sees no files in phaser (or rather doesn't seem able connect phaser).

tried using smbup wrxtasy suggested on thread mentioned, , still no go.

can offer thoughts on this?
