nephew playing medal of honor on quad core 3.0 mac pro (2006) , screens went blank. i'm pretty sure ati radeon got little hot.

when went boot after cooling off period system ran slugg. ran disk utility off osx snow leapord disk.

failed disk repair within few seconds.

i'm going buy new drive-- cause drive original , noisy-- , fresh os install.

question this-- can set old drive slave drive , move files old disk new disk? have backed external network drive wife has recent stuff really wants.

help.

 

yes, can. if hdd still recognised, can use other hdd in mp or external hdd connected mp.

can either use setup assistant or migration assistant or finder migrate files old hdd new hdd.
