My "C" key is sticking: how safe is it to take it off?

i wondering if there instructions/videos out there removing keys, or if recommended @ all. "c" key starting sticking (having eating near laptop, presumably) , it's driving me insane. advice appreciated.

 

very straight forward , simple, long care.

recommend using plastic pry keys, not metal, avoid scratching or marring laptop surfaces.
