RAM or CPU more important for video/photos

ill getting new mac soon, plan on mbp. heaviest stuff editing pictures slr thru aperture , don't yet, editing videos through final cut pro x. play occasional game, nothing intel hd 3000 can't handle.

13in (with tb display) , either 13in model get 8gb of ram aperture, final cut pro?? should go i7 in 13in? , quad core i7 in 15in base model worth it?

it depends on workload, people, benefits go

ram, ssd, cpu

in order of priority better performance.

lot more ram workload requires not speed things up. not enough ram have way more of impact on performance dropping few grades of cpu or lacking ssd.

i"d recommend minimum of 8gb of ram (if buy owc, ridiculously cheap), if find page-outs high, upgrade 16gb.

now...

if have sufficient ram, more cpu help, question of how want spend, , whether want 15" machine carry.

specific usage, assuming both machines have sufficient ram, 15" lot faster video encoding, video encoding takes advantage of multiple cores. reckon you're see 1.5x performance increase or more in encoding speed, going quad core 15" machine. going i5 i7 in 13", not much....
