wow. thoughts... i'm new apple user - quite recent convert in december. i've seen complaints apple turning osx ios, , agreed of complaints. dreading seeing ml about, seeing ios features being brought over, without true innovation os.
saw pictures of windows 8 consumer review...and wow. can is, i'm grateful switched on apple. osx may becoming bit ios-like, ml, seeing mess windows 8 is, i'm incredibly looking forward ml now. yes, apple porting ios features on osx, , there may endgame of full unification between 2 oses, apple doing better job microsoft. @ least still full control through system preferences, terminal, single user mode, , finder in ml. ios apps (such reminders, imessages) may not conform ui guidelines osx, blend in reasonably compared metro , ugly, overly colorful apps. orange? lime green? gag me. explorer may still give user control in w8, it's still jumbled mess , imho looks ugly , inconsisent. of course, beauty in eye of beholder. other ios apps sticking out teeny bit in ml, overall , feel of osx still beautiful, simple, , clean.
this, coming formerly loyal windows user. used live , breathe microsoft/windows. still love windows 7. but, windows 8...forget it. others may love it, embrace it, i'm going stick iosized ml desktop, thankyouverymuch.
we're lucky. 2 cents.
you can disable metro interface in 8, , go 7-esque desktop. agree, win os becoming more , more 'streamlined' -- don't think can start button in 8, no matter -- which, really, started in vista , has continued on through 7, plus feature creep office 2007/2010's ribbon. microsoft's initiative , there's no getting around it.
osx, , ios, , i'm more unificiation, think apple understands aesthetics more, , know there remain separation between desktop/laptop , mobile device uis. icloud , other backend improvements wonders 'unify' 2 oses without changing feel... , yes, getting application/service names consistent across both platforms key. contacts should contacts on desktop and when mobile; makes sense.
