Questions regarding Microsoft Office 2011 Word Normal.dotm template

hello,

purchased new macbook pro, running mac os x 10.7.3. in doing so, had purchase microsoft office 2011 mbp can not run microsoft office 2004 (which using on old ibook g4).

questions normal.dotm template found in user templates subfolder buried in application support.

specifically, whenever open word, initial document opened in "notebook layout view". initial document open in "print layout view" when open word. have tried opening , modifying normal.dotm template, every time save , open word again, resorts previous notebook layout view.

well, modify normal.dotm template that, whenever create new document, document maximized fit screen; it's bit time consuming manually have resize document every time open it. think able in 2004 version, don't know how version.

finally, 2011 version contains new "toolbar" opened every time document opened or created. "toolbar" unlike 1 have seen in 2004 version , has menus such "home", "layout", "document elements", etc. while possible hide toolbar once document opened or created, wondering if there anyway have hidden default.

i'm hoping can me.

don't think using awfully big sledgehammer dispatch gnat? have never had manually edit normal.dotx, normal.dot, or other template word open in print layout view.
