iphone 3G + iOS5

have iphone 3g (8gb)....in moment of insanity, tried upgrade ios5 using itunes (ver 9 think).

upgrade happened... phone 'reset'..it boots .. 'carrier locked' again , won't function anymore beyond emergency call screen.

read online iphone's baseband, there's no proper unlock procedure or way downgrade ios 3 or whatever had earlier. (i have backup file btw)... though there seems way upgrade ipad baseband , unlock, haven't been able carry out. (tried using sn0w sort of fails after entering dfu mode)

if have 3g, impossible phone has 5.0.1 on it. latest firmware 3g 4.2.1. so, check firmware version on phone , report back.
