My iPhone 4s has worse reception than 3GS

morning all

i've moved 3gs 4s & while i'm pretty happy 4s (much faster, certainly), reception noticeably worse.

• i no signal on iphone 4s in areas did on 3gs
• on 3gs, 1 bar useable - it's not on 4s
• tethering on 3gs reliable & patchy on 4gs - dropping connection regularly
• i'm connected cafe wifi & mbp has no problem, 4gs doesn't seem have / data access, despite being on same wifi & supposedly having strong signal

don't me wrong - still love phone etc, lack of signal driving me bit nuts. hope i'm not one, & apple sort out...

i'm posting on mbp, while failing send couple of imessages on phone - once again should have strong signal useful pot plant. i've tried turning phone off/on etc no joy

 

sorry beat dead horse, holding wrong?

iphone 4s doesn't suffer same "issue" iphone 4 does, poor signal happening phone placed on desk (e.g. when you're not holding it)?
