Digital Audio G4 won't boot with Radeon 9600 XT installed

so, i've got 466mhz power mac g4 (digital audio model.) it's in fine working condition , works stock ati rage 128 pro installed. anyway, upgraded g5 tower radeon 9600 xt x800 xt, , decided i'd try sticking 9600 g4, it'd nice improvement on oldschool rage card. 9600 in perfect working order.

anyway, put 9600 in, closed case, hit power button... , nothing. opened up, reseated 9600, made sure there wasn't dust in way, tried again. no signs of life whatsoever. put rage 128 in, boots fine.

what's going on here? i'm sure radeon 9600 xt 4x agp card, , digital audio g4 4x agp (whereas g5 tower 8x agp.) maybe card draws power? wouldn't have thought so. driver problem? (i'm running updated 10.5.8.) gold agp connections on rage pro , 9600 xt different, fit fine slot. , small nub of pin on 2 cards closest actual display ports absent x800 xt.

oh wait, wikipedia says standard radeon 9600 xt 8x agp. though sites should da power mac. need tape pins on or something? weird though pressing power button doesn't thing..
