Youth unemployment 'disaster'

interesting article on bbc site regarding youth unemployment discussions @ davos 2012 conference:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-16774301

"the numbers stark: in countries of arab world, 90% of 16-24 year olds unemployed. in united states youth unemployment rate 23%. in spain 50%. in uk 22%."

lots of discussion , angles. lot of people getting concerned. finally.

it interesting dilemma not many people noticing - or caring about. solid post philalawyer, favorite of mine, sums nicely - @ least situation in us.

over-education mentioned south korea everywhere, seems. when studying abroad visited poland , befriended law students. saying wasn't rare store owner have masters. ones i'm still in touch had leave poland find jobs in fields.

same thing going on in u.s. told go college - if they're not college type - , if go, many major things aren't transferrable professional world. that's why we're lacking it/high-tech jobs , have ever growing need skilled labor (welders , such) earn more average english major, have negative stigma of doing real work.

i'm rarity among friends , in workplace. 22, graduated last may, found work right out of college. took 100+ applications, bunch of phone interviews, handful of in-person interviews. not doing greatest work (but work @ great place), not going complain because i'd living @ home instead of being able stay in chicago.
