Do many apps require 3G or is WIFI good enough?

i'm thinking of buying first ipad haven't decided if discounted ipad2 or new one. pretty set on getting wifi version. there many popular apps users using require internet connection makes buying 3g version must. have android phone , notice many games need data connection upload high scores or use openfeint. if buy wifi model limiting myself apps can run?

 

i've got wifi version , pleased i've got wifi setup @ home, work. when traveling make use of wifi hotspots, hotel wireless, etc.
