Shared tab missing from Sidebar? Help!

hello, shared tab, lists other computers (windows , mac) connected network, appears on sidebar every time i'm online. has been missing past few days. tried various suggested workarounds no result, include checking shared tab in finder preferences, pull sidebar plist, allow filesharing smb etc.

there "ultimate" fix issue? many in advance.

btw, i'm on macbook unibody, 10.5.8.
