IMac Ram

hello,

got 2011 imac (i chose not wait). followed advice of getting 4 gigs of ram plan upgrade aftermarket ram. i've been looking on amazon. question is, best ram buy , how should get.

also, put 15000 photos iphoto. when scrolling, it's super choppy , doesent respond well. ram issue?

 

you need 1333 mhz 204-pin ddr3 so-dimm ram. can via newegg or amazon , 8 gb cots less 50 usd giving 12 gb (as can use present 4 gb) or 16 gb less 100 usd.

if ram culprit, can use following:
open activity monitor , go system memory* tab , page outs , swap used , report back.

using activity monitor show cpu , ram usage​

lag depends on how big images (file size , resolution) thumbnail has created live , depending on stored (usb or firewire hdd or internal hdd) can take while.
