Video Card Woes

calling geekiest of macintosh geeks. has big problem! have 1st gen macbook pro , vid card going bad, causing lot of overheating , freezing. how hard/expensive replace? i'm technology , wouldn't surprised if replace myself. i'm looking bit of advice though. easy? how much? should have pro it?

macbook pro: distorted video or no video issues

gpu soldered onto logic board, no way replace it, unless have access factory right equipment.
