Number of characters in a line

i've been trying count number of characters in line when using word, can't seem find way it.
used use pc , lower bar in word specified number of characters when in position within line, number of words , number of page. mac don't number of characters.
can enable function?
help!

 

not sure version using. using 2011. under following menus tools>word count.
