Turn off display? (programmatically)

if wanted write program mac (hopefully screensaver) turn off display / screen / monitor (not make black), looking @ working opengl or other osx library / framework? i'm programmer new development on macs.

reason want because i'm running hackintosh has problems both standard sleep , display sleep, thought alternative writing simple app or screensaver turn off screen.
