iPhone 4 screen dimming for no reason

hey,

i've noticed lately iphone 4's screen (or think) starting go dim after while no reason. automatically adjust setting off , brightness 100%.

can tell because colours seem more dull white's safari , grey's in app store, etc.

funny thing is, when turn off , on, screen @ full brightness again! still happens after restore! warranty apple expired in september '11 i've got carrier's warranty remaining contract time. should try , replaced?

needing brightness @ 100% doesn't sound start. i'd looked at.
