Aperture vs. iPhoto: Speed advantage?

hi.
have around 40k pictures , 2k events in iphoto library. feels quite bit slower in beginning, when opening edit sidebar , searching... i'm wondering if aperture offer significant speed improvement?

, if does, aperture integrated lion , itunes (e.g. syncing of albums iphone etc.)?

thanks.

fwiw, aperture has free 30-day trial, if want kick tires yourself.

trial:

how to's:

it's been few years since migrated iphoto aperture -- don't remember relative speed increase. however, couldn't live without organizational freedom aperture gives me. there learning curve, me, worth it.
