How do I delete songs from iPad?

i have ipad 3 , itunes match. ios 5.1 want able delete songs ipad after they've been streamed there match.

can delete them swiping finger left on specific song. however, have 20,000+ songs in match library. when using ipad, finding songs have been stored (rather still being in cloud) take years. 20k songs show on ipad, though stored on ipad itself. others have cloud download symbol. can't find way sort locally stored. if knows how using ipad alone helpful. can see sorting album, artist, songs , playlist.

searched online none of suggestions worked. here's tried:

in itunes (on computer) set option "manually manage videos". don't have option showing songs when uncheck videos option mention music. have checked "sync checked songs and.." missing @ stage? did click "apply"

click on grey triangle of left next ipad, under "devices", in itunes , select music. can see songs stored locally. highlight song, right click, select "delete" , nothing happens. same non-result when highlight song , use "edit" function @ top , select "delete". nothing happens. if swipe , delete song on ipad disappear list on itunes.

suggestions found online seemed think method should work. idea why isn't working me?

edit: spent 30 minutes apple support on phone, numerous breaks guy check higher tech, no joy. suggestion manual swipe on ipad itself, unacceptable. have spend hours searching songs individually , swiping delete them.

 

you can't want on ipad. apparently deleting each song individually option aside removing library in itunes , re-syncing.
