i have macbook 4,1 120gb hard drive. hard drive has 3 partitions:
12gb linux partition
100gb osx partition
1gb linux swap partition
has 7gb of free space @ end of drive
want shrink osx partition down around 80gb (it has 30gb available space) have 27gb of free space create windows partition. problem when go disk utility reports above partition structure reports have "100.3gb free space" @ start of drive. incorrect. seems harmless enough problem causes "the chosen size not valid chosen filesystem" error when try resize osx partition because system adds size of of partitions, realises it's 220gb , throws error because it's above 120gb drive size. can't seem realise there no free space @ start of drive. i've tried using couple of linux partitioning programs gparted , recognise correct partition structure had couple of unrelated problems.
have ideas how can disk utility sort out?
