iPhoto updating library at every launch?

i love iphoto every time launch it, pops message saying "updating photo library" , progress bar, , takes literally minutes me regain control of ipad. if did once understand, every time launch it? have on 8,000 pictures.

else experience problem?

i having same problem. contacted apple , complained... pain not using right now.
