Snow leopard and wd mybook world

hope u can help, i've got first mac, literally yesterday! it's 2008 20 inch imac (2.66ghz, 2gb ram) latest version of snow leopard, have not put lion on yet.

have 1tb wd mybook world networks attached hard drive i've used windows pcs years.

yesterday plugged mac in, connected wifi opened finder, straight away sees network drive, open it, put in login details , voila, browsing files in no time, impressed!

until today, powered mac can not connect. can see drive trying connect says connection failed. i've deleted login details key thing , retyped them, nothing.

can access fine on windows laptop mac refuses connect.

didn't change since yesterday, don't know how yet!

can advise please? need able use drive itunes media stored on it!

help?!

 

i might wrong on one, wd drive might have been formatted ntfs since used on windows.

os x, can't read ntfs read/write unless enable it. there many ways this, 1 choose you.

1. can format drive hfs journaling (for mac), may neglect windows machine. can use exfat, can read natively both believe. still requires format drive , you'll lose data on it.

2. install ntfs reader/mounter.
2a. freeware versions. ntfs-3g open source app hides in preference pane. install , that's it. should mount/read/write ntfs drives easily. http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24481/ntfs-3g

version doesn't have lion support yet. need fink or macports install latest version of ntfs-3g. http://www.tuxera.com/community/ntfs-3g-download/

2b. payware version. paragon , tuxera same, pay enhancements ntfs-3g mac doesn't have. fyi, tuxera ntfs-3g. decided start company , offer free community version , paid version enhancements.

i've never tried hint before. use free version of ntfs3g. it's outdated, works. last update in 2010 unless compile software via fink/macports. versions date, last stable update jan 22, 2012.
