ok, i've rationalized keeping wifi ipad , returning 4g one. logic use @ home , work , don't want pay multiple cellular connections. surely own 4g enabled phone (either samsung galaxy s3 or iphone 5 if display stops being tiny) in summer, , plan instead rue chase tethering plan it. also, 4g ipad has noticeable background bleeding on 1 side wifi version doesn't have.
anyway, while using wifi-only version evening noticed connection intermittent , varies between 1 bar , 3 bars while i'm sitting in exact same location of our house. actual network speed seems vary accordingly. never noticed behavior 4g enabled ipad i've been using on last 10 days.
i've read of people having problems wifi on models, didn't see discussion of possible correlation between model , connection issues, i.e. in particular whether 4g model had issues , wifi 1 didn't, or vice versa.
furthermore, wonder whether fact 4g model has plastic bar on top of case affects wifi reception extent? looking @ ifixit tear down seems if wifi , 4g antennas sitting close inside ipad, not clear whether either of them sits near plastic bar. find hard interpret pictures ifixit posted.
can shed light on this?
i had both wifi , verizon ipad 3 , lte ipad consistently had better wifi signal. helped in use case scenarios because 1 of couches sit in when use ipad far airport extreme. lte ipad had no problem getting decent signal , bandwidth while wifi worked intermittently @ location.
