Time Machine Restore

i have new 13.3" macbook pro intel core i7 2.7 ghz w/ os x lion 10.7.3 installed. data & applications old (crashed) mbp w/ snow leopard in time machine, backed on external fantom drive. ok move backed-up files (data , applications) new mbp, or should transfer data , clean installs of applications? thanks, bud.

 

let time machine import want. apps should launch fine, although may ask product key.
